Waddy Wachtel, Phil Jones, Jamie Savko, Rick Rosas, Brett Tuggle

The Waddy Wachtel Band has been appearing at the Joint in Los Angeles on Monday nights since May 2000.

Due to the busy schedules of all the members of the band - individual touring and recording dates - they haven't appeared every Monday night, but they've consistently Rocked the Joint audiences whenever they're in town.

The Waddy Wachtel Band
was originally formed in Los Angeles by Waddy Wachtel, Jack Tempchin, Phil Jones and Rick Rosas in 2000. They were all well-respected and polished musicians who decided to put together their talents and offer up their own renditions of Classic Rock songs for small audiences at a club called the Joint on Monday nights. The band originally had no name, which was appropriate as no one knew which special guests might show up to gig with them on a Monday night. As word spread that not only could you go see these guys every Monday night at the Joint (when they weren't off touring or in the studio recording) but many of their friends (some famous and equally talented performers) would show up unexpectedly. The Joint got filled with an audience of appreciative fans who returned regularly on Mondays.

When Jack Tempchin took his leave in 2003, Waddy Wachtel continued the Monday night shows with the rest of the band and added other performers on a regular basis over the years. In 2006, as people kept asking what was the name of this fantastic band, it was agreed to call it the Waddy Wachtel Band, since Waddy was such an integral part of keeping the shows going, planning the set list, offering up new songs, etc.

Don't expect to see the Waddy Wachtel Band touring as a unit, and don't look for a newly released CD by the band. Although each member of the band tours with other performers and is featured on many CDs by other artists, WWB is a special live treat only available to those who come to the Joint when they're performing.

The Joint is located at 8771 W. Pico Blvd (at Robertson), Los Angeles 310-275-2619.

Here's some more info about each of the members of the Waddy Wachtel Band..................

WADDY WACHTEL is one of the most well-known and respected performers in the music industry. His career as a guitarist, producer and song-writer has spanned many years, and to list all of his credits here would fill the whole page. From his early beginnings in the L.A. music scene playing with such artists as the Everly Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, Bonnie Raitt, Randy Newman, Don Henley and Jackson Browne - to his most recent work as musical director, lead guitarist and vocalist for Stevie Nicks on tour, he's ventured into such creative fields as composing his own songs and writing musical scores for movies.

Waddy's connection to the Rolling Stones:

Wachtel's first Stones connection was with Ronnie Wood. Wachtel contributed to Ronnie's fourth solo LP, 1 2 3 4, recorded in L.A. and released in 1981. Subsequently Wachtel became an X-Pensive Wino when Keith stole him away for his first solo album and tour in 1988. Wachtel was still there for the 1992 album and tour, this time co-composing many of the tracks on the album.

"So I started to put a band together... Steve (Jordan) looks at me and says, Who do you want to play with? I said, Guitar? Waddy Wachtel. And he goes to me, My very words. I'd known Waddy since the middle 70s, and I've always liked his stuff. But I always recognized him as a man left alone out there running a chick's band. And I knew this man wants to rock more desperately than he's allowed to. (Laughs.) He's doing Linda Ronstadt, then he's doing Stevie Nicks, and I know my man wants to rock. Waddy and I have always had that empathy, and he understands my music. I don't have to explain anything to Waddy. I say, It goes like this, and everybody else would say, Well, that's weird. But Waddy goes, Oh, that's interesting." -Keith Richards, 1992

Wachtel did not participate in any Stones sessions during those years but he has played extensively since on the Bridges to Babylon album. Wachtel played guitar, acoustic and electric, on more than a good half of the album's tracks, becoming the most heavily used guitar player on a Stones album, outside of the Stones, since Wayne Perkins and Harvey Mandel in the days of Black and Blue (1976).

BRETT TUGGLE has been rocking the music world since he first started banging out Beatles and Beach Boys songs on his family's piano as a kid. He went on to play keyboards as a sideman for quite a bevy of various artists including Steppenwolf, David Lee Roth, Coverdale/Page, Rick Springfield, Chris Isaak, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Brett is also a great vocalist, guitarist and bass player. For more info on Brett, check out these links:

PHIL JONES seems to have been born with drum sticks in his hands - he's that comfortable on his throne beating those drum skins. In Phil's earlier years, he played with a band called Crabby Appleton, knocking off some incredible rock songs. More recently, he played on tour with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and is featured on drums and percussion on Tom Petty's album "Full Moon Fever." Phil is also on records by The Rolling Stones, Joe Walsh, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and many others. You can learn more about Phil by visiting his web site:

RICK ROSAS, aka Rick "The Bass Player" Rosas, stands off-handedly in the background with a warm grin while plucking away at those bass strings like a master. His talent has been recognized by performers who have been happy to get him to gig with them, such as Neil Young and Joe Walsh. Find out more about Rick by visiting his web site:

JAMIE SAVKO probably started singing before he learned to walk or talk - his voice is that clear and vivid. Jamie is the newest member of the Waddy Wachtel Band, having been recruited by Waddy at a gig he went to in October 2006. He was a great addition to the band, as Jamie's trained voice can easily sing any song Waddy requests. Jamie has recorded with various artists, and his future as a vocalist looks bright.
