Review: Waddy Wachtel Band 2/9/19

Note from Nina:

The Waddy Wachtel Band really rocked us all up Saturday night, February 9, 2019 at Discovery Ventura in Ventura CA!
If you were there, you could feel the excitement coming from the band and shared throughout the whole audience. If you saw the live stream on AlertTheGlobe, you got a good glimpse of how great this band is, but LIVE is best!

The guys were so happy to see all of your smiling faces - you long-time regulars and the newbies. They all say: “Thank you for joining us - you make these shows ROCK!”

A bit about the players:

Waddy Wachtel is a legend in the music industry. He’s played on numerous albums and tours. You must know who he is! He’s been putting these WWB shows together since 2000, and his exceptional playing and singing make the whole night thrilling. Watching his fingers on those guitar strings and hearing the amazing sounds he gets (with no effects or pedals) is a piece of magic. And his vocals are deeeeelightful! Besides the great tunes the band played, we got to hear a new song just written by Waddy “Bad Side.” No one had heard it before, but everyone loved it!
You can find out more about Waddy at his web site: http://waddywachtelinfo.com/

Brett Tuggle is a master of keyboards and guitar, with a voice that’s so true and crisp. You might have seen him on tour with Fleetwood Mac or heard him on albums over many years with numerous top artists. Brett once had a band called Four Lads From the Valley that played all Beatles songs. So, when Brett sang the Beatles songs at this WWB show - he totally nailed them!

Phil Jones is a drummer extraordinaire. Whatever you want from a drummer - Phil can provide it. He played on some Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers records and with many other artists, and continues to keeping banging those drums. He’s currently playing with many different bands - he’ll never stop. And we’re so glad he’s been keeping the rhythm with WWB since 2000!

Jamie Savko has a voice that can shake the rafters. Once you’ve heard him sing, your mouth just drops open in amazement! Whether it’s harmony or lead vocals, he cuts right through and blends perfectly. When he sings Led Zep, AC/DC or anything, you know how extremely talented he is. We’re lucky to have him with WWB!

Al Ortiz has toured and played on records with Stevie Nicks for years. That’s how Waddy met him, and saw what a great addition he’d be to WWB. Al flies in to L.A. from Phoenix to do these shows. He said to me: “Playing with Waddy? I wouldn’t miss it!” He holds that bass like it’s part of his body and wails!

Blondie Chaplin sang the lead vocals on the Beach Boys song “Sail On Sailor” on their record. He continues to tour with Brian Wilson. He’s always so happy to come and join in on WWB shows - singing, playing guitar and banging the tambourine. It’s always great to hear him sing “Sail On Sailor” and “Wild Honey” with WWB. He’s got so much energy!

Keith Allison is best known for being in Paul Revere and the Raiders, but he’s been very active since then singing and playing on many other records. Keith has a way of drawing everyone in when he takes the stage. Such wonderful vocals, guitar and harmonica and that big smile! He’s been playing with WWB since the beginning in 2000. Lucky us to have him!

Ron Dziubla is very multi-talented. He’s really active playing with other bands all over the place, and we were lucky he had the time to come play for us. His saxophone solos are incredible! And his flute on “Ruby Tuesday” was perfect. He can also play guitar and keyboards. He plays great jazz sax, but is happy to get rockin’ and rollin’ with WWB! We’re glad he’s there!
