Review: Waddy Wachtel Band 2/4/12

Note from Nina:

I know everyone who was at The Joint Saturday night 2/4/12 getting Rocked Up by the Waddy Wachtel Band is still buzzzin'. Yes, we are!!! What a great musical night it was. Our guys really kicked some ass!

Before I give you some words about the gig and the set lists, I wanna remind you.......
The next WWB gig is at The Mint (just down the street from the Joint) on Saturday night, March 10. With our regular line up of Waddy, Phil, Rick, Brett, Jamie and Keith - plus Bernard Fowler will be back in town and said he'll be singing some great songs with them too. I know you want to be there! I'll remind you.

Here we go.......

WWB added 2 new tunes to their set list last night - ones they hadn't done for us before. "The Kids Are Alright" by The Who - Oh yeah, the kids up on that stage were definitely alright. Better than alright - they really got us going with that one, the first song of the night. Waddy did a wwonderful job on the lead vocals. A special treat for us Who fans. Keith Allison (our Southern man) sang the other new tune - "Wild and Blue." Of course it was Keith who could do such a fantastic job of singing that country song, and the band made it ROCK!

I'm sorry for using the word "rock" so much in my WWB reviews, but that's what they DO. They rock our world, shaking out all the dust we might have been accumulating, and make us all feel happy to be alive! Know what i mean?

Yes, Waddy doesn't accept mediocre. When his hands fly over those guitar strings or he's singing those delightful vocals, it's flawless. How lucky are we? Very!

Rick Rosas always blows my mind when he plays those bass riffs on "Eight Miles High." He and Waddy took center stage and played off each other in a way I can't describe in words. Oh man! You never heard that song done before like they do it. Add those harmony vocals by Waddy and Jamie - High we all are.

Speaking of Jamie..... What an incredible voice he has. When he hits those high notes, it's like the angels are flowing through his vocal chords. Shivers for sure.

Phil Jones - there's no one like him. Give him some sticks and drums - and any band would be saying "Thank you, Phil!" He rocks our world.

What a treat it was to have Brett Tuggle back on that stage with WWB. We missed him. When you hear Brett's vocals on "I Am the Walrus" - it makes everyone tingle. And I have to say his vocals blended with Waddy's and Jamie's harmonies on "I Can't Let Go" - killer. I've been hearing that song in my head all day.

Okay, my sweet Rockers...... I've done the best I can to try to tell you how Rocked Up we get from WWB. If you've seen them you know. If you haven't - remind yourself you deserve this treat. WWB does it for YOU!
